Applications are invited for a PhD position for a bright and highly motivated student in the Department of Neurosciences at KU Leuven University. The candidate will work with Prof. Koen Nelissen on a project investigating the cortical and subcortical substrates of flexible behavior towards reward-based learning in non-human primates.

The project involves state-of-the-art functional imaging, in combination with behavioral and pharmacogenetical perturbation techniques. Candidates are expected to have a Master degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Physics, Computer Sciences or related fields. Experience with functional MRI data acquisitions/analysis and/or proficient programming skills (matlab) are highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written) are essential.

We offer a PhD position in a stimulating research environment for an initial period of one year, with an additional three year period upon positive evaluation. Starting date is flexible, but preferably Oct 1th 2017 or soon after. Salary is in accordance with Belgian regulations.

KU Leuven is one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. It is based in Leuven, a historic and lively student town, situated close to Brussels and less than 2 hours from London, Paris and Amsterdam.
