We are looking for a motivated, inquisitive and independent postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in cellular imaging, molecular biology and electrophysiology, for a collaborative project addressing the role of actin dynamics in the maintenance of synaptic plasticity, at the Chronic Disease Research Center (CEDOC).
We use a combination of electrophysiological and imaging approaches is organotypic cultures to address the role of the actin cytoskeleton in the input-specific maintenance of synaptic plasticity. To image synaptic actin we will use super-resolution imaging (STED), with the collaboration of Dr Valentin Nagerl. Research will be mentored by Dr Rosalina Fonseca, an expert in synaptic plasticity
( in close collaboration with Dr Valentin Nagerl from the University of Bordeaux (, a world leader in super-resolution imaging.
To be the right candidate, you need to have experience in cell cultures and in imaging, at least one first-author publication and good communication skills in English. Preference will be given to
candidates with experience in rodent handling (FELASA B accreditation). Applications should be sent to with the reference de Bolsa DAI/2017/68.

Monthly Stipend: According to the regulations of the FCT Scientific
Fellowships in Portugal (€1495.00/month + Social Security; free of taxes). The successful candidate is expected to apply for external fellowships to fund his/her postdoc position independently as soon as possible. Both PI will support the application of the candidate.
