Description

Postdoctoral Neuroscientist in Behavioural Neurophysiology. We are seeking a postdoctoral neuroscientist to develop, execute and analyze electrophysiological and behavioural experiments in rodents as part of a scientific programme designed to investigate neuronal dynamics of multi-brain circuit assemblies during the
expression of memory-guided appetitive behaviour.
You should hold a PhD in Neuroscience and demonstrate clear expertise and a promising track record in the field of in vivo network physiology, neuronal assemblies and memory processes. Candidates should have advanced technical expertise in programming (C, Python, R or Matlab) and multivariate data analysis.
The post-holder will be part of the Dupret Group based at the MRC Brain Network Dynamics Unit at the University of Oxford, Department of Pharmacology. The group uses a multidisciplinary approach to elucidate how temporal coordination of cortical and subcortical activity relates to the encoding, consolidation and recall of memories as well as the expression of memory-guided behaviour. The group combines electrophysiological techniques with optogenetic techniques and closed-loop systems to infer causality, where possible.
This is a full-time, fixed term post with end date of 31 March 2020 in the first instance (possible extension from 1 April 2020 subject to renewal of funding from the Medical Research Council), with an initial probationary period, to start as soon as possible from April 2018. This post is a University Grade 07S position with a starting salary of £31,604 - £38,833 per annum.
Interviews to be held week commencing 9th April 2018.
Applications must be made via the University of Oxford’s online recruitment system, using vacancy ID 133147.
