Description

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CELL BIOLOGY OF STRESS RESPONSE IN HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE -

One postdoc position is immediately available in the team Brain-C 'Neurodegenerative Diseases & Aging' at the Institute of Biology Paris-Seine in Paris -

The position is supported for 2 years starting April-May 2018 with possible renewal for a 3rd year. The successful applicant will study the role of cell survival and cellular senescence mechanisms in differentiating neurons and adult neurons in Huntington's disease (HD). Theses studies will involve models currently in use in the team including human pluripotent stem cell models and C. elegans models of HD pathogenesis. The aims will be to understand the dynamics of cellular maintenance mechanisms (e.g., DNA damage response) in HD and how these mechanisms impact on the homeostasis of the neural stem cell pool and on the activity of adult neurons -

Postdoc candidates are expected to be highly qualified and to be independent. Essential qualifications include demonstrated experience in human stem cell biology and in using the latest molecular biology technologies. Previous experience in C. elegans genetics will definitely be a plus. A strong background in cellular neurobiology will also be a plus. -

Postdoc candidates that just obtained their PhD are welcome to apply as well as those with previous (3-4 years) postdoctoral experience acquired outside France. If a candidate has previous postdoctoral experience acquired in France, this should not exceed 2 years. -
