Post-doctoral position in Leuven/Belgium

Job ID

The Sleep and Motor Memory Lab (Department of Movement Sciences, KU Leuven, Belgium) led by Prof. Genevieve Albouy invites highly dynamic and motivated candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position to study neuroplasticity associated with sleep-dependent motor memory consolidation in healthy adults. Specifically, the aim of the project is to investigate, using multimodal neuroimaging (MRI and EEG), the potential of non-invasive brain stimulation during sleep to modulate memory-related neurophysiological mechanisms and ultimately enhance consolidation processes. This project will be realized in collaboration with Professors Julie Carrier (University of Montreal) and Julien Doyon (McGill University).

To be eligible to apply, you must have a PhD degree in Neurosciences, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Imaging, or Engineering and have excellent signal processing skills (experience in real-time analysis of EEG data is preferred). You must also have a strong interest in the study of memory / sleep and medical imaging acquisition / analyses (programming skills in Matlab and other software packages is preferred).

We offer the postdoctoral researcher a full-time employment for 2 years (with possible extension) in an intellectually challenging environment. The Sleep and Motor Memory Lab is part of the Movement Control & Neuroplasticity Research Group, directed by Prof. Stephan Swinnen, which uses multidisciplinary and cutting-edge approaches, spanning the behavioral, neural and movement sciences, to investigate human motor behavior. The hosting university, KU Leuven, is a well-recognized research-intensive, internationally oriented university that carries out high-quality fundamental and applied scientific research.
