FENS aims at elaborating and setting forth advocacy strategies to increase public awareness about the importance of the brain research.
- National level
FENS considers that national scientists – engaged through their national neuroscience societies - are in the best position to identify and act on the specific needs for neuroscience advocacy at the national level.
FENS is committed to engaging member societies in an efficient dialogue and it supports them in the process of information.
- European level
FENS interacts as an advisor to policy makers in different European institutions, including the European Parliament and different European Commission directorate.
FENS provides recommendations and expertise to panels and working groups of the Commission and acts with other partners under the auspices of the European Brain Council as a voice for the brain area in Europe.
The Committee on Animals in Research (CARE)
The Committee on Animals in Research (CARE) advises FENS on the responsible use of animals in neuroscience research. It supports the development of resources on animals in research for FENS and promotes the public education in matters related to the use of animals in neuroscience.
FENS is committed to working with world-leading organisations to raise public awareness and to providing solid advice to policy makers and stakeholders on the importance of continuous support for brain research.
As a partner in the International Brain Research Organisation (IBRO), FENS contributes to the Global Advocacy Initiative. This partnership allows best practices and shared experiences to be exchanged between different IBRO regions in the world.
