100th anniversary of the Russian Physiological Society
The Russian Physiological Society created by Ivan .P. Pavlov organised a scientific forum on the occasion of its 100th anniversary on 17-19 April 2017 in St Petersburg.
The Russian Physiological Society was created by Ivan Pavlov in St Petersburg in 1917. On the occasion of its 100 years, the society organised a scientific forum in St. Petersburg together with the Institute of Higher Nervous Activity and Neurophysiology of RAS (Russian Neuroscience Society).
The FENS History Committee members were invited to contribute to the Forum. After giving their talks, they visited together with researchers from the Russian Physiological Society and the Saint Petersburg State University the main sites linked to the life and research of Ivan Pavlov: his apartment and the I.P.Pavlov Museum Koltushi.
This meeting lead to a long term collaboration between the History Committee and the Russian Ivan Pavlov Physiological Society. An article about the meeting written by Richard E. Brown, Zoltán Molnár, Ludmila Filaretova, Mikhail Ostrovsky, Marco Piccolino, and Lorenzo Lorusso, was published in Physiology.
