Connecting European Neuroscience

Are you a Master, PhD or Postoctoral student?

NENS provides support to Master, PhD and postdoctoral students in neuroscience through a variety of instruments, such as:

NENS exchange grants for graduate students

NENS offers grants for graduate students that would like to gain methodological experience. The exchange grants cover travel and accommodation costs of up to 3,000 € and are intended for master and PhD students registered within NENS member schools or programs. Applicants are expected to spend a period of one to three months at a NENS school of their choice in a different European country.

Slots in national courses and programmes

In partnership with IBRO-PERC, FENS has launched this yearly initiative in view of supporting master and PhD neuroscience students to broaden their knowledge and acquire international experience by participating in short courses related with neuroscience field.

NENS Alumni page

Aiming to encourage and coagulate a network among alumni students, the NENS Alumni page lists students’ publications in association with the awarded NENS exchange grants, as well as their final reports following their awarded training stays.

FENS job market

We are actively working to integrate the school network with the FENS Job market, so to facilitate recruitment of master and PhD students as well as their placement on the job market at the end of their training.

  • Activities for career development
  • During the FENS Forum NENS organises and sponsors events devoted to career development and job placement for young European neuroscientists. These include "meet the expert" events, where academic and non-academic career strategies and job opportunities are presented by invited experts with diverse experiences, such as industry, communication or research management. Opportunities for job interviews and meeting with potential job offerers are also provided during the Forum.
