The Award includes receipt of the Cajal medal, an inscribed certificate and $5,000, plus $250 in support of travel expenses ($500 for trans-Atlantic travel) to the Cajal Club Social. The winner is invited to submit an account of his/her research for publication in Cerebral Cortex.

The Cortical Discoverer prize will be awarded to a senior Neuroscientist who has contributed significantly to our knowledge of the cerebral cortex and/or its connections.

Nominations of candidates for the Cortical Discoverer Award should be submitted by e-mail and should include the following: (1) A letter of nomination. (2) A copy of the candidate¹s curriculum vitae. (3) PDF files of up to three publications of the candidate¹s research on the cerebral cortex and/or its connections. Additional letters of support of the nomination are also welcome. Nominations made in 2017 and 2018 can be re-submitted if they were not submitted in 2016.
