About the Event

Our one-day Fundamentals of tES Workshop, led by Professor Michael Banissy of Goldsmiths, University of London and hosted at the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology is an excellent, comprehensive introductory experience for those who are completely new to transcranial electrical stimulation and looking to introduce the technique into their own research. The workshop features detailed lectures introducing delegates to the basic principles and physiology of tES, along with ample hands-on, practical sessions for delegates to test out tES techniques that they wish to incorporate into their own research projects. The training received in the workshop will provide delegates with a sufficient knowledge required to set up, carry out, and analyse a successful tES study of their own. The practical workshop covers: The physiology of transcranial electrical stimulation (tES), and the differences between transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), and transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS); how to successfully prepare a tES study, including electrode preparation, setting stimulation parameters, and blinding options; safety principles and contraindications in tES studies; discussions and Q&A sessions on how to integrate transcranial electrical stimulation into your own research programme.
