Job ID

The Faculty of Medicine invites applications for a

W2 Professorship for Systemic Neurophysiology

at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology to be filled by the earliest possible starting date. The professorship will initially be appointed for six years. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W2 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met.

The professorship is intended to strengthen the research focus on Neuroscience at the Faculty of Medicine. We are seeking a candidate with in-depth experience in analysing functional connectivity and network dynamics in the brain with advanced optogenetic, microscopic and electrophysiological techniques. The successful candidate will explore the neuronal underpinnings of cognitive functions and affective behaviour, with particular emphasis on models of neuropsychiatric disorders. Excellent collaboration opportunities exist with the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light (MPL) and the newly founded Center for Physics and Medicine, which is jointly supported by FAU, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and the MPL. We also expect the successful candidate to represent the field of physiology adequately in teaching.
