For the CNS Discovery Research at Boehringer Ingelheim located in Biberach we are seeking an experienced slice patch clamp electrophysiologist. The successful candidate will perform experiments using slice electrophysiology techniques to explore novel therapeutic concepts for the treatment of psychiatric disorders.This is an excellent opportunity to apply scientific expertise to drug discovery with a particular focus on brain circuits associated with cognitive control and motivation.

Tasks & responsibilities
- As a Research Scientist you will work independently to set up ex vivo slice recordings for the identification and validation of novel therapeutic concepts.
- You will apply your skills and expertise to support the progression of ongoing CNS portfolio drug discovery projects.
- You will collaborate routinely with internal and external scientists.
- You will present your research activities at internal and external meetings and in peer-reviewed journals.
- As a Research Scientist you will work in a stimulating, multidisciplinary team comprising neuropharmacologists, cellular and molecular biologists, behavioural scientists and electrophysiologists.

- PhD degree in Neuroscience, Pharmacology, Biology or related field and expert knowledge of and skills in neuropharmacology
- Profound knowledge of and hands-on experience with slice patch clamp electrophysiology from rodent brains
- Strong knowledge of neuroscience and understanding of brain circuitry and a background in psychiatric disorders is preferred
- Excellent track record of publication in scientific journals and presentation at international conferences
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English in writing and speaking
- Knowledge of German is not essential, but willingness to learn would be an advantage
