Post-doctoral position in Lyon/France

Job ID

We are currently seeking applications from post-doctoral candidates (LabEx-funded positions).

Project: We study the pathophysiological mechanisms responsible for the development of seizures in epilepsy (epileptogenesis). In particular, focusing on Mesio-Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, the most common form of intractable epilepsies, our recent findings revealed a dramatic rewiring of neuronal networks in the hippocampus. Using a MTLE mouse model and human tissues, the objective of our project is to determine the key molecular determinants responsible for both structural and functional alterations of hippocampal networks. To tackle this question, we combine a set of complementary methods ranging from transcriptomic analysis, cell biology in vitro, to integrative biology in vivo using functional electrophysiological recordings.

Environment: The University of Lyon (IdEx Initiative of Excellence) and LabEx CORTEX represent an outstanding scientific environment. Research at SBRI is at the interface of development biology with a strong emphasis on stem cell biology, neurogenesis and functional neurobiology of the brain. SBRI benefits from state-of-the-art research platforms and provides a high-quality scientific, technological and medical environment.

Candidates: We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated scientists holding a PhD and willing to join a challenging research area at the edge of cellular biology and neurosciences. Applicants are expected to have a strong background and proven track record in neurosciences. Experience in working with mice, cellular and molecular biology (transcriptomics), and/or electrophysiology would be helpful. English proficiency is mandatory and strong communication skills and team spirit are expected.
