FutureNeuro is a new national research centre focused on chronic and rare neurological diseases, funded by Science Foundation Ireland and based at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. The centre has partnered with Congenica, a UK-based leading provider of clinical decision support software and services, to develop a cutting-edge clinical decision platform for epilepsy using
Congenica’s clinical genomics analysis software, Sapienta. This software will be specifically enhanced to help clinicians and geneticists interpret DNA sequences in a neurological disease context. Additionally, the project will inform the development of an open interface to ensure compatibility of the genomic data with the Irish electronic health records (EHR). Beaumont Hospital, which is a tertiary referral centre for epilepsy and the national referral centre for epilepsy surgery, is a clinical collaborator in the FutureNeuro Research Centre. A clinical researcher is required to support the initial start-up phase of this research programme.

The position would be suitable for a physician, a scientist or a research nurse who has an interest and experience in clinical epileptology research, translational research genomic testing in epilepsy and neurology, and the application of e-Health solutions applied to the new and evolving field of clinical genomics.
