Description

The Zentrum for Experimental Neurology (ZEN) at the Inselspital University Hospital, University of Bern, Switzerland (Prof. A. Adamantidis) is recruiting a Engineer/Programmer in brain signal analysis.

As part of the Bern Network for Sleep, Epilepsy and Consciousness (BENESCO.CH) network, the ZEN research center is a unique translational environment with long-standing expertise in sleep, epilepsy and stroke and supported by strong interactions between experimental and clinical laboratories. We study the substrates and the role of neural circuit oscillations in the brain of rodents and human across sleep-wake states, stroke and epilepsy using a combination of state-of-the-art techniques including optogenetics, virus & mouse engineering, in vitro whole-cell patch-clamp recording, in vivo electrophysiology, calcium imaging and behavioral assays (Adamantidis et al 2007, Nature; Jego et al 2013, Herrera et al 2016, Nat. Neurosci.; Boyce et al Science 2016).

Profile requirement includes, but is not limited to, a Master degree in Computer Science/Informatics, Engineering, or related (Physics, Mathematics) and a strong expertise in software development or programming (Matlab, Spike, C++, Python, etc.). A sound background in neuro-engineering, brain signals analysis (EEG, LFP, single units, time-series analysis) and IT management (data sever storage, cloud computing) will be an advantage. Flexibility, adaptability, team spirit and strong communication skills are essential, as the position involves working with an interdisciplinary team of experimental and clinical international scientists.
