Post-doctoral position in Los Angeles, California/USA

Job ID
Los Angeles, California/USA

A NIH-funded postdoctoral position in Developmental Neuroscience is available in the laboratory of Dr. Sebastien G Bouret at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California (USA).

Current projects in the lab aim at unraveling the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development of hypothalamic and hindbrain circuits involved in energy balance and glucose regulation. For example, one of our projects uses a variety of approaches including transgenic, neuroanatomical, opto- and chemo-genetic, and behavioral/physiological methods to study the importance of axon guidance molecules in the development of pro-opiomelanocortin neurons and how this developmental process contributes to the control of feeding behavior and adiposity. Our projects also involve a candidate approach using RNA-Seq to identify molecular factors that underlie abnormal hypothalamic development in a context of maternal obesity.

The ideal candidate would have Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience or Physiology or related fields and have previous experience with animal models. The candidate should highly motivated and be able to work both independently and in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to reaching research excellence and achieving assigned objectives. Excellent English speaking and writing skills are required as well as a track record of publications. The position is immediately available, although starting date can be negotiated.
