The Eccles Institute of Neuroscience at The John Curtin School of Medical Research is seeking applications from highly motivated, internationally recognized neuroscientists to drive high-impact independent research programs as well as contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. These tenure-track positions will provide funding for 7 years in the first instance. Applicants will be expected to have an international research profile in neuroscience, teaching experience, and a competitive funding record. We are interested in expanding our expertise in molecular, cellular, systems and computational neuroscience, but are open to applications from exceptional neuroscientists in any area.

The Eccles Institute of Neuroscience (EIN), led by Professor Gregory Stuart, was launched in 2012 in new state-of-the-art facilities within the John Curtin School of Medical Research. EIN was planned and built specifically to allow co-location of much of the neuroscience research at the Australian National University under one roof. It currently comprises over a dozen independent research groups working in areas such as synaptic transmission, sensory processing, the retina and excitation-contraction coupling, with expertise in electrophysiology (patch-clamp & lipid bilayer), immunohistochemistry, advanced optical techniques (optogenetics & 2-photon), modeling and molecular biology. This research is being carried out in vitro, in vivo and in awake behaving animals. EIN provides staff and students with an exceptional environment for research on brain function, with a cellular focus and an emphasis on signal processing in sensory systems.
