We are looking for scientists with an original research program addressing fundamental questions in neuroscience and ready to start their own research group. Our institute currently focuses on the function, structure and development of neural circuits (, but we are open to recruiting in any area of neurobiology.
We especially hope to interest female scientists in this position, as part of ongoing efforts within the Max Planck Society and Technical University of Munich (TUM) to increase the number of women in academic science. The successful candidate will be offered leadership of a Max Planck Research Group (MPRG), which is completely independent and comes with generous funding for start-up investments, personnel, and annual running costs. The appointment is initially for 5 years but includes the possibility of a merit-based extension for up to 4 years and is equivalent to a W2 Professorship.
Max Planck Research Group Leaders are eligible to apply for an appointment as Tenure Track Assistant Professor at Technical University of Munich within the joint MPS/TUM career program. This appointment includes the right to award doctoral degrees and further provides all career options according to the TUM Faculty Tenure Track system (
