Post-doctoral position in Munich/Germany

Job ID
19831
Place
Munich/Germany

Description

Two fully-funded post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Nadine Gogolla at the Max-Planck Institute of Neurobiology in Munich, Germany. We seek to hire enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join our team dedicated to identifying the role of the insular cortex in mediating and regulating emotional behavior.

The lab uses integrative approaches such as in vivo electrophysiology, two-photon imaging, optogenetics and viral tracing in combination with behavioral experimentation in order to dissect insular circuits implicated in emotion processing.

The goal of one project is to address the precise role of the insular cortex in integrating global bodily and arousal states with acute emotional or sensory cues.
Another project will address the role of neuromodulation in state representation and emotion regulation.

The candidates should have strong motivation to succeed in science, as well as excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills. Experience with in vivo electrophysiology and/or awake imaging is highly desirable. Strong quantitative and technical skills, as well as experience with signal processing and analysis, are necessary. Qualified applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field.

The Max-Planck Institute of Neurobiology offers an outstanding neuroscience research environment and the lab has access to excellent facilities and resources. The Gogolla Lab is generously funded by the Max-Planck Society, a European Research Council Starting Grant (2018 – 2023), and collaborative grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Agence National de la Recherche (ANR-DFG, France-Germany) and the German-Israeli Foundation (GIF).

Candidates should submit their CV, a one-page cover letter outlining their research interests, along with contact information for at least two references, to ngogolla@neuro.mpg.de

Review of applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled.
