The Regenerative Neuroimmunology Laboratory at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, University of Gothenburg, Sweden invites applications for a postdoctoral position for 2 years to study the role of complement in injury-induced brain plasticity. The successful candidate will use techniques ranging from ischemic brain injury models and behavioral testing of mice to advanced microscopy and high content image analysis to investigate the mechanisms underlying injury induced brain plasticity, functional recovery and the role of complement receptor signaling therein.

Candidates who received MD/PhD or PhD degree in biomedical sciences / neuroscience less than 2 years ago (i.e. in August 2016 or later) with at least two first author papers are encouraged to apply. Hands-on experience with experimental stroke or other brain injury models, imaging and/or behavioral testing of mice is an advantage. Other important qualities include strong self-motivation, good interpersonal skills and excellent command of English. The appointee will work both cooperatively within a group and independently and will be expected to take his / her own initiatives.
