Description

A postdoctoral scholarship in stroke research in diabetes is available. The goal of our research is to uncover the complex pathophysiological mechanisms at the basis of why diabetics present decreased recover after stroke.

The environment provides an excellent post-doctoral training in an international working environment, guest lectures and possibilities to publish in good impact journals.

We search for a candidate with PhD in neuroscience and experience with preclinical stroke research. Metabolic/Diabetes background is a strong plus.

The scholarship is awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining part of their education. The scholarship is paid for 12 months at a time, paid monthly and is exempted from Swedish income tax. This educational scholarship can be paid for a maximum of two years.

1) Stroke research experience documented by publications on a peer-reviewed journal.

2) An approved certificate to work with animals that is valid within EU (FUNDAMENTAL: DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE IT)

3) Behavioural tests (sensorimotor and/or cognitive)

4) IHC from frozen and PFA fixed rodent brains

5) ELISA methods from blood and brain

6) WB and PCR

7) Expertise with in vitro neural stem cells is a plus.

The candidate should be adaptable to work within our research group and with an already established network involving academic groups within Sweden/EU. For this reason, highly developed skills in communication in English are required.
