1 PhD/graduate student position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Annarita Patrizi at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), Heidelberg, Germany. The position is available immediately and is fully funded for 3-4 years. The successful candidate will be part of the neuroscience doctoral program of
the Interdisciplinary Center for Neurosciences (IZN), at the University of Heidelberg.

Our young and dynamic team is looking for an enthusiastic and talented PhD candidate with strong interest in neuroscience. Our research group is dedicated to identify instructive signals that are critical for normal and pathological brain development. In particular we aim to unravel intrinsic and extrinsic factors essential for development and refinement of the cortical brain circuit. To this end we will focus on the role of the choroid plexus, an unique interface between blood and cerebrospinal fluid. With the help on a multidisciplinary approach, including transcriptomic, proteomic, complex co-culture systems and bioinformatic methods we plan to identify and to analyze unbiased choroid plexus - cerebrospinal fluid instructive signals during normal development and in disease models.

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, interactive and team-oriented with a background in at least one of the following areas: cellular and developmental neuroscience, bioinformatics and co-culture systems and organoid cultures. Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical or Molecular Sciences, Biochemistry, Biology or related fields. Expertise in cell culture biology is advantageous.
