Post-doctoral position in Leuven/Belgium

Job ID

The Sleep and Motor Memory lab led by Prof. G. Albouy (Dpt of Movement Sciences, KU Leuven, Belgium) invites highly dynamic and motivated candidates to apply for a postdoctoral position to study the neuroplasticity associated with sleep-dependent motor memory consolidation in healthy adults. The aim of the project is to investigate, using multimodal neuroimaging approaches (MRI and EEG), the potential of sensory stimulation during sleep to modulate memory-related neurophysiological mechanisms and ultimately enhance consolidation processes. This project will be realized in collaboration with Profs. J. Carrier (University of Montreal, Canada) and J. Doyon (McGill University, Canada).

To be eligible to apply, you must have a PhD degree in Neurosciences, Psychology, Biomedical Sciences, Medical Imaging, or Engineering and have excellent signal processing skills (candidates with experience in real-time analysis of EEG data will be given priority). You must also have a strong interest in the study of memory and sleep and medical imaging acquisition and analyses (programming skills in Matlab and other software packages is preferred). Your cover letter must include contact information of 2 referees. Referees may be asked to provide a recommendation letter at a later stage.

We offer the postdoctoral researcher a full-time employment for 2 years (with possible extension) in an intellectually challenging environment. The lab is part of the Movement Control & Neuroplasticity Research Group, directed by Prof. S. Swinnen, which uses multidisciplinary approaches, spanning neurosciences and movement sciences, to investigate the control of human movement. The hosting university, KU Leuven, is a well-recognized research-intensive, internationally oriented university that carries out high-quality fundamental and applied scientific research.
