Description

Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher position (PhD programme) at Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Milan, Italy

A three-year PhD position is available on the subproject “Glycan-coated nanoparticles as inhibitors of specific lectins, a new neuroprotective therapeutic strategy for brain injury caused by ischemia”, within the frame of the recently granted Marie Curie European Training Network (MC-ETN) project NanoCarb - Glyco-Nanoparticles for Applications in Advanced Nanomedicine (www.nanocarb.eu).

This highly multidisciplinary subproject is focused on the identification of glycan-coated nanoparticles capable to interact with high affinity with specific lectins involved in the lectin pathway of complement system, suggested as potential targets for neuroprotective therapeutic strategies for ischemic brain injury.

The planned in vitro and in vivo preclinical studies will be mainly carried out at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacological Research, Milan, Italy, under the supervision of Dr. Marco Gobbi, Head of the laboratory of Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics, and Dr. Maria Grazia De Simoni, Head of the laboratory of Inflammation and Nervous System Diseases. Two secondments are planned, in both academic and industry environments.

Eligible applicants must have less than 4 years research experience and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. The applicants should not have resided or carried out main activity in Italy for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the recruitment date.

Applications (CV, list of publications and 2 references) should be sent to marco.gobbi@marionegri.it or mariagrazia.desimoni@marionegri.it. For further information, please see https://euraxess.ec.europa.eu/jobs/354110
