The School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Research Fellow in the field of spinal cord injury research to undertake a project funded by the Scottish Rugby Union and two generous friends of the University.

This position is ideally suited for someone who has already carried out preclinical research related to spinal cord injury. We will consider candidates from different experiences (e.g. nearly finish of a PhD to mid-stage of postdoc). It is essential that the candidate will have a proven track record of 1st author publications from their PhD and/or postdoctoral work and show commitment to team work.

You will be part of the Aberdeen Spinal Injury Research Team comprising of neuroscientists specialising in axonal development and guidance, spinal cord repair, spinal cord injury-induced neuropathic pain, and neural tissue engineering (Dr Wenlong Huang, Dr Derryck Shewan and Dr Ann Rajnicek) and work with them to deliver novel therapeutic approaches for improving motor and sensory functional recoveries following spinal cord injury. In particular, you will work directly with the Principal Investigator Dr Wenlong Huang on this project to ensure successful delivery of the project.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£32,548 - £36,613 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience. Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Huang (
