Description

PhD student position

Research Group “Biosynthesis of Neural Structures”
Center for Molecular Neurobiology Hamburg
University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf

We are looking for highly motivated students with a master/diploma degree and interested in neuroscience, molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and/or morphology.

Our group is focused on how recognition/adhesion molecules and their glycan moieties shape the nervous system in development and learning and memory in the adult, and to which extent these features are recapitulated in regeneration of the adult nervous systems after acute injuries or in chronic injuries. We combine biochemical methods, cell culture approaches, and histology using mouse models for human neurodegenerative diseases.

The offered position is following our previous research on the role of recognition molecules in regulating apoptosis, mitochondrial metabolism, and nuclear functions, such as transcription.

The Center for Molecular Neurobiology offers an excellent scientific working environment and cutting-edge infrastructure.
