Description

The Feligioni’s lab is recruiting a motivated neuroscientist to fill a postdoctoral position at EBRI ‘Rita Levi-Montalcini’ Foundation in Rome, Italy.

Located at University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’, EBRI Institute is an non-profit organization devoted to the scientific research of several aspects of neuroscience especially focusing on the discovery of molecular dysfunction in neurodegerative diseases. (www.ebri.it)

Feligioni’s laboratory is mainly focused on studying the role of SUMOylation, a post translational protein modification mechanism , in the onset and development of Alzheimer’s, Amyotrophic Lateral Scleroses (ALS), Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases. The laboratory is mainly interested in understanding how SUMOylation influences neurotransmitter release but also protein aggregation and trafficking.

The recruited Post-Doc will work on a project, funded by Alzheimer’s Research UK, in which we will study how SUMOylation interferes with stability, degradation, activation and aggregation of Tau protein.
Candidate should be enthusiastic and passionate about neuroscience research.
We prefer individuals who will bring in their own unique background, expertise, knowledge and personality to the lab.
However, we required intensive knowledge on
Imaging techniques (confocal, time-lapse, fluorescent microscopy)
biochemical techniques (purification of GST-tagged proteins, western blotting, immunohystochemistry) plasmidic DNA manipulation,
neuronal primary preparation and cell line transfection, genotyping .
Essential would be the knowledge of laboratory animal handling (mice and rats) and intracerebral injection technique.
Candidates with different knowledge will be not taken in consideration.

The position is for 1 year only and eventually the renewal is depending on funds.

Please send your CV to m.feligioni@ebri.it before 25 March 2019, 3 recommendations and a short statement about how your research interest fits in with the lab’s interests. Thanks!
