The lab of professor Henrike Scholz at the Institute of Zoology of the University of Köln, Germany, is offering a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m), Salary according to German TV-L E13 (100%).
The position focuses on “Behavioral genetics of additive behaviors using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system”. Within the projects state-of-the-art techniques should be used (e.g. Imaging of neuronal activity, neuroanatomy, generation of transgenic animals) to investigate candidate genes involved in additive behaviors such as alcoholism or eating disorders. In particular mechanisms underlying changes of neuronal plasticity and/or cellular stress responses on reward related neuronal circuits and behavior will be analyzed.
We are seeking a talented, responsible and highly motivated scientist with a PhD and research experience in confocal microscopy, imaging of neuronal activity, neurobiology, molecular-genetics and/or behavioral analysis. Experience in Drosophila melanogaster would be beneficial.
Candidates should be creative and capable of developing a competitive research project while working in autonomy under the supervision of a team leader.
The position includes mandatory teaching (4 SWS) on bachelor and master level and is initially available for three years.
