Description

PhD position is available to study the mechanisms governing adult neural stem cells (NSCs) quiescence and proliferation, and understand how their dynamics is changed following brain injury. The aim of the project is to monitor and manipulate NSC activity in vivo, in freely behaving animals under normal and pathological conditions and understand how signals derived from vasculature and multi-ciliated ependymal cells affects NSC physiology. To address these questions we will use head-mounted miniature microscope, CRISPR-Cas9, electroporation, Ca2+-imaging using GCamP6, electromagnetic stimulations and transgenic mice to specifically modulate vasculature-derived signals.
The laboratory is located in the CERVO Brain Research Center affiliated to Université Laval, Quebec City. It is a part of Neurophotonic Center, a vibrant research environment bridging together neuroscience and photonics.

Interested applicants should send CV, statement of research interest and the names and contact information of 2-3 referees to Dr. Armen Saghatelyan armen.saghatelyan@fmed.ulaval.ca
