Post-doctoral position in Japan

Job ID
23513
Place
Japan

Description

We are looking for a motivated post-doctoral researcher to investigate how sensory processing occurs on multiple levels of analyses, using the rodent olfactory system.

The project will investigate how sensory feedback affects local circuit functions of the primary olfactory area (olfactory bulb), using two-photon imaging, optogenetics with patterned light and head-fixed olfactory behavioural paradigms.

Experience with electrophysiological or optical experiments, in particular with in vivo preparations, would be desirable, as well as the ability to program in Matlab and/or Labview. We are seeking an original thinker, who is independent but also is able to play as part of a team.

We are a neuroscience laboratory located at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST) Graduate University, in Okinawa, Japan. OIST is a rapidly growing international research institute without departments, which provides a unique, multi-disciplinary research environment. The working language in the lab, as well as of the institute, is English.

Candidates should submit their CV, two references and a brief cover letter describing their previous work, motivation and future aspirations, to Izumi Fukunaga (izumi.fukunaga@oist.jp).
