Description

Title: A bitter pill? How the use of oral contraceptives can lead to increased mood and anxiety disorders"

The majority of young Dutch women uses oral contraceptives (OCs), and often start using OCs in puberty when their brains and emotion regulation mechanisms are in a crucial developmental stage. This project will investigate whether starting OC use in adolescence increases risk for depression and anxiety, and whether this may be due to disturbance of emotion regulation mechanisms.

For this project we are looking for a candidate who holds a Master's degree in Experimental/Biological Psychology, Neuroscience or related field.
Methods to be used include EEG, ERP, behavioral experiments, longitudinal epidemiological cohort data.
