POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE & MULTIMODAL NEUROIMAGING
- - - DETAILLED INFO: https://tinyurl.com/postdoc-cog-multiimaging - - - - - - - - SUMMARY - - -
Alzheimer’s disease neuropathology starts decades prior to the first cognitive symptoms are detected through progressive alteration of brain integrity. The hallmarks of these changes is Tau and Amyloid beta protein accumulations, as well as neurodegeneration. Yet, the interaction between these hallmarks in determining one’s cognitive faith are not fully established. In addition, other structural alterations take place in aging and could contribute to cognitive decline. This research project will combine voxel based morphometry and quantitative MRI of the brain to both Tau and Amyloid beta PET imaging to isolate combined contribution of age-related change in brain structure to cognitive performance in aging.
The project will be carried out in a multidisciplinary team developing methods for studying the human brain in MRI and PET, cognitive neuroscience and Alzheimer’s disease. Our centre collaborates with renown research centres of excellence across Europe in MRI (Leipzig, London, Maastricht,...) and aging (Caen, London,…).

You will be in charge of 3T data acquisitions for structural characterization of the brain using qMRI protocols in 100 healthy older individuals ( > 50 y). You will analyse several modalities of the large dataset. You will work with other postdocs and PhD students but will have your own dedicated project. You will supervise MSc and PhD students. You will work in close cooperation with the neuroimaging application team and experts in cognition
The research will be supervised by Dr Christophe Phillips and Dr Christine Bastin, and in collaboration with Dr Evelyne Balteau (MRI physicist).
