POSTDOCTORAL POSITION
COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE & SLEEP - 7T TERRA
- - - - - DETAILLED INFO: https://tinyurl.com/postdoc-cog-7TMRI-Sleep - - - - - - SUMMARY - - - The brainstem is intimately linked to both sleep and Alzheimer’s disease through mechanisms that remain poorly characterized. This research project will associate functional and quantitative MRI of the brainstem (e.g. Locus Coeruleus), sleep electrophysiology and the genetic risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease
The project will be carried out in a multidisciplinary team developing methods for studying the human brain at ultra-high field (UHF – 7T), cognitive neuroscience, Alzheimer’s disease, genetics and sleep and chronobiology. Our centre collaborates with renown research centres of excellence in MRI (Leipzig, London, Maastricht,...), sleep/chronobiology (Surrey, Basel, Zurich, Amsterdam,…) and genetics (Queensland).

- - - RESPONSABILITIES - - -
You will be in charge of 7T data acquisitions for functional and structural characterization of the subcortical part of the brain with a particular focus on the brainstem and Locus Coeruleus in at least 150 healthy young individuals (< 30 y). You will analyses several modalities of the large dataset. You will work with other postdocs and PhD students but will have your own dedicated project. You will supervise MSc and PhD students. You will work in close cooperation with the neuroimaging application team and experts in sleep and cognition
Your work will be carried out in collaboration with other UHF centres (see work environment) and with the support of Siemens (research and collaboration agreement and financial support). The research will be supervised by Dr Gilles Vandewalle, in collaboration Dr Evelyne Balteau (MRI physicist), Dr Christophe Phillips (Ingeneer), and Siemens.
