The newly established Heisenberg Professor/Chair in Sensory Physiology at the OVGU Magdeburg investigates the neural basis of perceptual decision-making in primates.
 investigating the neural basis of perceptual decision-making using high-dimensional neurophysiological recording and causal interventions, including microstimulation and ultrasound across multiple brain site (funded by the OVGU)
 collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team and taking responsibility for research progress and research reporting, presentations at scientific meetings etc.
 contributing to the development of methodology, the conduct of animal experiments and the fostering of international collaborations
 master/diploma and a PhD (or close to submission) in neuroscience, medicine, or another natural science and a strong quantitative background
 experience in either animal neurophysiology and/or neurocomputational approaches
 previous experience with non-human primate research is desirable but not essential, but a strong motivation to engage actively with these experimental approaches is required
 experience in programming, for example with MATLAB or Python, and in statistical methods
 excellent language skills in English (German language skills are welcome but not essential)
 confidence and motivation to develop data analysis techniques and drive the project forward
