Postdoctoral Fellow in Systems Neuroscience

We are seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Shinjae Chung at the Department of Neuroscience, University of Pennsylvania. The goal of our lab is to identify the molecular and neural circuit mechanisms underlying sleep. We are also interested in investigating how sleep neurons are connected to circuits involved in psychiatric disorders and/or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. We employ a multi-disciplinary approach including optogenetics, in vivo electrophysiology, imaging, virus-mediated circuit mapping and gene profiling. We are part of the Department of Neuroscience and the Chronobiology Program of the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. The position offers the opportunity to become an active member of this multi-disciplinary neuroscience research community and work in the highly collaborative and collegial environment at Penn.

The candidate should have a Ph.D. and strong expertise in animal behavior, molecular biology, in vivo electrophysiology and/or data analysis. The ideal candidate is a talented and passionate individual driven by strong scientific curiosity with the potential to make an impact on neuroscience.
