We have a postdoctoral opening for a highly motivated researcher to join the laboratory of Dr. Julie Kauer at Stanford University. The lab focus is to understand synapses altered by reward, reinforcement and pain using electrophysiological recordings, and to modulate them optogenetically. We are looking for an applicant interested in joining NIH-funded projects using electrophysiological and optogenetic tools in brain slices as well as optogenetic tools in mouse behavioral assays to identify and control circuits critical for:
1) acute stress-induced changes in motivation for drug-seeking and
2) control of pain perception
____________________________________________________Applicant qualifications:
• Must have a PhD or MD/PhD in relevant neuroscience-related areas.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
• Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with a team.
• Experience with electrophysiology, animal behavior, or optogenetics will be very useful.
