Post-doctoral position in St. Andrews/UK

Job ID
23961
Place
St. Andrews/UK

Description

Testing the “glymphatic” hypothesis at the nanoscale: Dr. Juan Varela has recently established a new lab at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, aiming to understand how nanoscale changes in the extracellular space of the brain facilitate clearance of protein aggregates. Within this project funded by the ERC grant “BrainNanoFlow” we are seeking to recruit postdoc. We are looking for an enthusiastic person with an academic background in either physical sciences (e.g. physics, chemistry, engineering) or neurosciences, willing to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment. The candidate will work in the characterisation of the so called “glymphatic pathway” at the single-molecule level. Experience with super-resolution fluorescence microscopy as well as experience working with rodents would be highly advantageous. Some previous work in neuroscience would also be convenient, but not essential. The funds for this post are available for two years in the first instance.

For informal enquiries email Dr. Juan Varela at: jv32@st-andrews.ac.uk
