Group Leader in Stockholm/Sweden

Job ID

Stockholm university (SU) is inviting applications for a senior lecturer/associate professor in neurochemistry, to be placed at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics (DBB). Neurochemistry and molecular neurobiology is a central research and education theme at the department. DBB is also home to internationally leading research on membrane proteins. Facilities at DBB include cell culture, in vitro- and in vivo- experimentation, cryo-electron microscopy, electrophysiology, and advanced confocal microscopy.

The academic neuroscience environment at SU also includes scientists at the Department of Molecular Biosciences - The Wenner-Gren Institute, and the Departments of Zoology, Linguistics and Psychology. Major investments have been and are being made at SU in new infrastructures of relevance for neuroscience: a state-of-the-art animal facility, a national microscopy facility with unique opportunities for intra-vital microscopy, a cryo-EM microscope, and the Stockholm University Brain Imaging Centre, an advanced interdisciplinary infrastructure for non-clinical research on brain function and structure. Combined with the proximity to the neuroscience departments at Karolinska Institutet, this provides for a collaborative, dynamic and growing environment for studies of the nervous system.

Most of the education within the subject neurochemistry with molecular neurobiology is at the master’s level. Most teaching is performed in English, but some courses are taught in Swedish. If the successful candidate does not speak Swedish at the time of appointment, he/she is expected to acquire necessary language skills during the first two years of employment.

In the appointment process, equal attention will be given to both research and teaching skills. Starting conditions subject to negotiation. See link for formal advertisement and instructions how to apply:
