PhD student position in Basic Auditory Research in Berlin/Germany:

Applications are invited for a PhD student position in a DFG funded research project of the ENT Department at the Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin, Center for Applied Medical Technology (head PD Dr. Dietmar Basta), Hospital of the Charité University Medicine Berlin, starting in November 2019 for a duration of 3 years.
The topic of the research project is the investigation of neurodegeneration and neuroplasticity in the central auditory system in a mouse model of temporary or permanent hearing loss using magnetic resonance imaging and immunohistochemistry. The techniques include audiometric measurements, magnetic resonance imaging, immunostaining and fluorescence/confocal microscopy.
Beyond basic interest in the research topics of the project, the successful candidate should hold an MSc or equivalent degree in Neuroscience or related field (e.g. Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine). Moreover, previous experience with animal handling (e.g. FELASA-B), basic histological methods as well as basic knowledge of immunostaining methods would be highly beneficial. A participation in the Graduate Program Medical Neurosciences (PhD-program) is possible.
