Description

Postdoc in Synaptic Transmission of Human iPSC-derived Neurons.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic researcher with interest in synaptic transmission for a 3-year position to start at December 1st 2019 or after agreement.
The position is part of the project “Neurodevelopmental disorders and the synapse” funded by the Lundbeckfonden call “What Causes Brain Disease?”. The project involves novel human and animal models for neurodevelopmental disorders caused by mutation of the synaptic release machinery, as well as systematic comparison to human patient and EEG data. We hypothesize that an imbalance in the ratio between excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmission leads to hyperexcitability and Intellectual Disability.
Our research groups (Sørensen and Perrier groups) are highly interdisciplinary and international. Sørensen’s work is focused on understanding the molecular mechanism of synaptic transmission and neurotransmitter release. Information on the Sørensen group can be found on https://in.ku.dk/research/jakob-balslev-soerensen/. The Perrier group has a strong interest in the endogenous properties of neurons and in mechanisms behind epilepsy. Information on the Perrier group can be found on https://in.ku.dk/research/jean-francois-perrier/.
The specific aim of the current position is to investigate synaptic transmission in human stem-cell derived neurons to identify neurodevelopmental disorder mechanisms. You will perform patch-clamp to characterize excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission in micronetworks formed in vitro from human iPSC-derived neurons.
