Description

A lab technician position is available in the lab of Jan Clemens at the European Neuroscience Institute Göttingen, Germany. A major focus of the lab is discovering how sensory information is processed and integrated to drive behavior. We combine high-throughput behavioral assays, machine learning (pose tracking), computational modelling, and modern systems neuroscience tools (calcium imaging and optogenetics). The position is funded by an ERC Starting Grant, which will start in February 2020 and run for five years.

Your Tasks: Organization, maintenance and ordering of materials and reagents; Fly husbandry, surgery, and behavioral paradigms; Light and fluorescence-based imaging; Active involvement in research possible; Support with administrative tasks.

Your Profile: Education as a research technician, Bachelor/Master in Biology (or a related field), or an equivalent degree. Excellent verbal and written communication in German and English. Versatility and willingness to adapt quickly to different tasks and timelines in a multi-disciplinary environment; Good knowledge of fly genetics and experimentation; Immunohistochemistry and imaging; Strong computer skills.

The position is for approximately 10 hours/week (25%) and is limited to 5 years. Start date is February 2020. Applications will be considered until the position is filled.
