Post-doctoral position in PARIS/France

Job ID

Our lab is looking for a highly motivated Post-doctoral fellow for a molecular and cellular project. The 3-year full-time position is available starting in 2020.
The lab studies the molecular and cellular bases of long-term plasticity in the brain, combining in vitro and in vivo approaches. The position is related to the role of the non-receptor tyrosine kinase Pyk2 in the function of excitatory synapses and in the regulation of gene expression. We have shown that this calcium-activated enzyme is important for synaptic maintenance and plasticity and is also involved in neurodegenerative diseases and stress-induced disorders. Yet, the intracellular dynamics, targets and cellular functions of Pyk2 in neurons remain poorly understood. The project will use a combination of molecular and cellular approaches in hippocampal neurons to explore these issues. Depending the applicant’s qualifications several orientations of the project are possible, including 2-photon live-imaging of Pyk2 dynamics and interactions.
The optimal candidate would have a strong expertise in molecular and cellular biology neuroscience. Applicants with an excellent molecular and cellular training in a different field and interested in neuroscience are also welcome. An option of the project would correspond to a candidate with experience in biosensor live imaging in vitro.
The lab is located at the Institut du Fer à Moulin, an institute affiliated with INSERM and Sorbonne University, dedicated to the study of the development and plasticity of the nervous system, with an international and collegial atmosphere in the center of Paris.
