Description

My group working on the Basal Ganglia in health and disease at the Laboratory of Neurophysiology of ULB Neuroscience Institute (https://uni.ulb.ac.be/) has an opening for a three-year postdoctoral researcher position starting January 2020. The purpose of this post is to conduct a study on the distinct functions of Basal Ganglia neuronal populations and their afferents in physiological and pathological conditions using different mouse models. The candidate will have access to cutting-edge techniques including in vivo calcium imaging and in vivo electrophysiology in freely moving mice to perform simultaneous recordings of neuronal activity with mice behavior together with optogenetic approaches.
- We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a PhD in Neurosciences or Life Sciences, and with very good English writing and speaking skills to integrate our international group.
- Experience with in vivo electrophysiology and signal analysis is required. Additional experience with optogenetics, mouse behavior or tracing approaches would be a asset.
- The successful candidate will employ a multi-disciplinary approach including optogenetics, in vivo electrophysiology and imaging techniques to tackle the functions of Basal Ganglia circuits. It is expected that the postdoctoral candidate lead its research project autonomously. The group leader will coordinate the long-term direction of it and will provide ample opportunities to develop further skills that will serve the postdoc as a principal investigator including mentoring, writing grants, giving talks and publishing papers.
The postdoctoral researcher will benefit from an International Neuroscience Institute (https://uni.ulb.ac.be/) with pluridisciplinary research groups and supported by several Core Facilities.
The postdoctoral researcher will receive a competitive salary.
