The Laboratory of Systems Neuroscience, Institute of Experimental Medicine is inviting applications for a postdoc position (PI: Balazs Hangya MD PhD).

Topic: The role of cholinergic and dopaminergic neurons in associative learning

Our goal is to determine the role of different neuromodulatory systems in learning, attention and other cognitive functions. We are using chronic electrophysiology, optogenetics and high-throughput behavioral assays in healthy mice and murine disease models. We are planning to incorporate imaging techniques in mice and zebrafish; therefore, previous experience in imaging techniques would be advantageous.

The group is funded by the Lendulet Program of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the ERC Starting Grant ‘CholAminCo’. Depending on experience, remuneration is up to 800.000 HUF gross (2400 Euros) plus cover of incoming economy airfare. Optimal starting date is Feb. 1 2020. Initial appointment is for 2 years and can be extended.

Postdoc candidates are required to have a Ph.D. degree. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated, collaborative, reliable and able to work independently. Experience in in vivo imaging is an asset.

Inquiry for more information and applications (including CV, short letter of motivation and contact details of two references) should be sent to
