Description

A postdoc scholarship in stroke research is available. Goal of our research is to uncover the pathophysiological mechanisms of why diabetic people present decreased stroke recovery.

The environment provides an excellent post-doctoral training in an international working environment and possibilities to publish in good impact journals.

We search for a candidate with PhD in neuroscience and experience with preclinical stroke research. Metabolic/Diabetes background is a strong plus. The scholarship is awarded to individuals from outside Sweden with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining part of their education. The scholarship is paid for 12 months, paid monthly and is exempted from Swedish income tax.

The scholarship can be paid for a maximum of two years. Application should include the following in English (PLS DO NOT SEND APPLICATION NOT FOLLOWING THE FORMAT BELOW SINCE THEY WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED): 1) A short cover letter describing your interest in the position (max 1 page) 2) CV (max 1 page excluding Publications) 3) Date of PhD exam 4) name of current supervisor 5) 1-3 signed recommendation letters or contact addresses.

The requirements are: 1) Stroke research and/or TBI and/or neurodegenerative diseases experience documented by one or more publications on peer-reviewed journals 2) Approved certificate to work with animals valid within EU (FUNDAMENTAL: DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT IT) 3) IHC from rodent brains 4) Expertise with Behavioural tests and/or Diabetes research is a strong plus

The candidate should be adaptable to work within our research group and with a network involving academic groups within Sweden/EU and the Industry. Thus, highly developed skills in English are required.
