Within the EU-funded research consortium "TubInTrain", the Department of Biosciences, School of Cell and Molecular Biology, at the University of Milan invites applications for one position for PhD student. TubInTrain is an European Joint Doctorate on chemistry and biology, which focuses on microtubule breakdown associated to neurodegenerative diseases and neurotoxicity.
The early stage researcher (ESR 8) will investigate the role of the interaction of a-Synuclein with microtubular cytoskeleton in molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration using models of Parkinson’s disease. The project will address the study of both a-Synuclein/tubulin interaction and its impact on microtubule assembly/dynamics and a-Synuclein aggregation in cell-free system and in neuronal cell cultures using multiple experimental approaches. Next, the ESR will check for the efficacy of those compounds and peptidomimetics that will be discovered by the TubInTrain network and will be indicated as the most promising in modulating a-Synuclein/tubulin interaction and a-Synuclein aggregation.
The position is limited for three years and involve one secondment at the University of Osnabruck, Germany as well as one secondment at industrial partner. Details concerning the project, the secondment and the application procedure can be found on the website of Applications have to be submitted CENTRALLY by December 2, 2019, referring to project ESR8 as detailed on the central website of the research consortium (
