Description
The Laboratory of Dr. Silvia Pagliardini in the Department of Physiology at the University of Alberta is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in the field of respiratory neurobiology.
The project aims to uncover the contribution of neuromodulatory mechanisms to ventilation across sleep states in health and sleep disordered breathing models.
The ideal candidate must have a recent doctoral degree (PhD) in physiology, neuroscience or related fields and evidence of publication history in the field of respiratory neurophysiology or neuroscience. Applicants with previous experience in rodent stereotaxic surgery, optogenetics, EEG and EMG recordings, plethysmography and sleep analysis will have priority in the selection. Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently and together with a research team, and aptitude to train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students are also necessary attributes.
The selected candidate will work in the Pagliardini laboratory and will benefit from the expertise of a strong and collaborative respiratory and motor control group present at the University of Alberta.
