Post-doctoral position in Lille/France

Job ID

A 3-year postdoc position is available from May 2020 at INSERM U1167 in Institut Pasteur de Lille (Lille, France) to work in Team 3, headed by Jean-Charles Lambert.
Our multidisciplinary team has recently characterized several genetic risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). We are particularly interested in BIN1, the second most associated genetic factor with AD. We proposed that BIN1 mediates AD risk by modulating Tau pathology (Mol Psychiatry 2013, 18:1225). We fully characterized the BIN1-Tau interaction and demonstrated that that BIN1 overexpression recovers Tauopathy-induced long-term memory deficits (Acta Neuropathol 2019, 138:631). We now aim to characterise the physiological function of BIN1 isoforms in synapses and to determine if these isoforms are at the interface between Tau and Aβ pathologies through synapse dysregulation.
Qualified candidates with a Ph.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree with a strong background in cell biology/neurobiology are encouraged to apply. A background in synaptic plasticity is desirable. Experience in primary neurons, iPSCs, microfluidics, or microscopy will be considered an advantage. An excellent track record of scholarly achievements, as demonstrated by awards and authorships, is expected. Candidates must be highly motivated and able to interact effectively with team members at various levels. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Speaking French is not mandatory.
Lille is a dynamic regional capital, a cultural hub and bustling university city of 250,000 ( > 1 million in the greater metropolitan area) and is well-connected to Paris, Brussels, and London. Our 5-acres integrated urban campus is located in central Lille and houses state-of-the-art research facilities.
Interested individuals should email ( a brief cover letter describing their scientific/academic achievements and key competences, a detailed CV, and names and contact information of two or more academic references.
