Description

Postdoctoral position (3 years) at the Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, University of Oslo. The project is on the characterization of glutamine/amino acid transporters and proteins involved in neuronal signaling and epilepsy in the group of Professor Farrukh A. Chaudhry’s group (http://bit.ly/2mWClTM; See e.g. Qureshi et al., Cereb Cortex, 2019; Moen et al., Brain, 2016; Hamdani et al., Glia, 2012; Nissen-Meyer et al., J Neurosci, 2011). We use a multidisciplinary approach to investigate molecular mechanisms with focus on neurotransmitter synthesis and synaptic plasticity and translate findings to clinics.
The candidate is expected to do in vitro protein characterization, generate genetically modified mice and characterize their phenotype, establish disease models and work on human material.

Qualification requirements
• Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian PhD doctoral and a strong academic background.
• It requires prior experience in molecular biology and generation of genetically modified mice and disease models.
• It requires strong experience in cell biology and biochemistry to study the secretory pathways and reveal protein modifications and interactions.
• Candidates with prior clinical experience will be prioritized.
• It requires motivation to contribute to a strong cooperation between the groups involved.

We offer:
• Salary level 523 200 – 583 900 NOK/year depending on qualifications
