We are looking for a highly motivated graduate student to study context-dependent multisensory behaviors in mice and single-neuron integration in the cortex.

Applicants will learn state-of-the-art two-photon calcium imaging of large populations of neurons across cortical areas and cortical layers during execution of new context-dependent tasks. The student will also be trained to optogenetic methods. This project focused on understanding how different sources of information combine networks of cortical neurons to drive decision-making.

We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds, including, but not limited to mathematics, physics, engineering and machine learning. We are especially interested in applicants with good programming skills (Matlab, python) and experience with two-photon imaging data processing and model-based analysis. Successful candidates will join the local neuroscience graduate program organized by the University of Geneva, the University of Lausanne and the EPFL. This program offers an excellent choice of practical and theoretical courses covering topics ranging from behavioral neuroscience to molecular, cellular, cognitive, and computational neuroscience (

Candidates should send their CV, a list of references and a brief cover letter describing your previous achievements and future goals to Sami El-Boustani:
